Lots of Farm Fresh Eggs to Color.

Grandpa and Grandma came up to help Karsyn celebrate her birthday and she went back home with them. Kaydree had a soccer game early Saturday morning so we stayed up in the cities for it. When we arrived on Saturday afternoon, Lori and Grandma had the eggs boiled and ready to go. Coloring eggs at Grandpa and Grandma's house is always interesting because we get all kinds of shapes, sizes and colors before we begin. Karsyn is a great egg picker and and washer. We picked up Grandma Ruth on our way so that she could get some Easter Celebrating in with us. We all laughed because for Dinner that night, my mom made pork tenderloins, baked potatoes and some salads but Grandma wanted fried eggs and toast. She lives about 26 miles from my parents house so it was great that my Aunt Karen and Uncle Doug picked her up to bring her home and we got to see them for Easter, too!

Charlee loves to snuggle up next to Grandma. I think he knows that she isn't going to be getting up and down very often. He gets to sleep uninterrupted.

Easter Pictures

I needed to add a couple more Easter Weekend Pictures. I love having these in the blog books.

Kyce had a hard time finding his basket because he kept getting distracted by the wildlife. Korin and Karysn

Kaydree got a little competitive and found more eggs then she was suppose to, so we had to re-hide some. We don't know where she gets this from?
Last year on Mother's Day weekend, Momma Kitty had her babies and this year she had them on Easter Weekend. Anyone looking for a baby kitten?

Karsyn Turned 7 Years Old.

On Wednesday, Karsyn turned 7 years old. She had a great birthday.

She had her school buddies over to help her celebrate.

Grandpa and Grandma Koch came up to help her celebrate.
She got subway for lunch at school, but we didn't get pictures. Bummer.
Our little Karsyn was born 7 years ago in the middle of Benjy's first year of law school finals. It was a stressful time, but she came into our family as a little bundle of joy and that hasn't changed. She makes us laugh with the things that she says and does. She keeps us on our toes and it brings me to tears when I think about how fast she is and wants to grow up. At times she still tries to trade Kyce for other babies or dogs and yet she plays so well with him. They run around for hours and she babies him like one of her dolls. She still adores her big sister and always wants whatever Kaydree has or does. She wanted the same cake Kaydree had, she wanted Subway for lunch like Kaydree had, she wanted to go to Texas Roadhouse and sit on the saddle just like Kaydree did. Karsyn doesn't really like the food there, (I know, right?) For Karsyn, it's all about getting up on the saddle and having a great ride!

A Story About a Turkey.

Here is a little story of a Turkey named, Tom. He was a good turkey. He walked around fluffing his feathers and puffing his chest out for all the female turkeys at Grandpa and Grandma's house. All winter, Tom, was well fed. He was a large (obese) corn fed Turkey that put on his winter fat in order to survive the Minnesota winters. He had recently been let loose to roam the land and he enjoyed the sunny spring time weather until.... one day, two dogs showed up. One by the name of Bruce and the other being Charlee. Now, Charlee has been known to be a Turkey/chicken chaser out at Grandpa and Grandma's house, however his small stature doesn't usually intimidate much. Bruce on the other hand, has somewhat of an intimidation factor to him. Both the dogs may or may not have chased Tom, Turkey a couple of times. One fateful morning they happened to chase him back to back and Tom's big old heart surrounded in oodles of fat just couldn't endure the adrenaline rush. Or after a winter of inactivity his heart finally spontaneously combusted with all of the recent exercise because when Grandpa and I looked out his window, we noticed a heap of feathers laying on the ground and sure enough...it was Tom.
We debated on what should be done with Tom's carcass. We discussed a burial, a trip to the burn pile and after much excitement the men folk decided to provide a meal for us women folk.

Warning the next couple of pictures should not be viewed by the faint at heart. Footless Tom.
Grandpa shaving the fat off of Tom's heart.
Making a Tom Turkey fountain.
Which didn't quite work out the way they had planned.
A Bodiless Tom.
Kyce not sure he liked this.A boiled, featherless Tom. Which ironically smelled like wet dog.

Tom's carcass.

We all agreed that Tom was just way too fat to taste good. From what I hear, he tasted horrible and was very tough. The best part is that Karsyn had run out of writing ideas at writer's workshop. She has plenty to write about now! I wonder what her teacher will think about this story?

Spring Time Shooting.

They went through 800 shotgun shells and 700 clay pigeons.

They were out there for hours.Even the girls and the ladies took a couple of turns.
It was a beautiful day.

Kaydree provided moral support. It is always so nice to get away from the cities for awhile to the quiet outdoors of Southern Minnesota! It was so peaceful and I have said this time and time again, "Everything just seems to slow down." I can't help but feel so relaxed or maybe the word is lazy when I am there. The guys had some sore arms so we all took advantage of the hot tub.

The boys said that we were getting away for a girls' birthday weekend, but I think, they had alterior motives! It all makes sense to me now....that's okay, we all got a chance to relax and enjoy it.

A Buddy and A Baby

They have a blast together! He kept waving and saying, "Hi, baby."
It makes me realize how much he is growing up. :(
